Following the singing of the “Opening Ode.” the club’s orchestra, under the leadership of. Savage C. W. Kerry, played two pieces, "Beau Brummell” and "War Songs of the Boys in Blue.”

"Hot Shooting,” by Savages J. A. Marshall and R. E. Cottle, members of the Dramatic Club, provided excellent entertainment. Savage D. Couper next favoured with a vocal solo, being followed by a cornet solo by R. Cottle. A short "Lecturette” by Savage C. C. Marsack on court cases and legal procedure, proved very interesting, and reference to the lighter side showed that the profession is not perhaps as dull as some may be led to believe. Past Chief W. Iggulden next favoured with a bracket of vocal solos. Past Chief E. J. Jenkins introduced the visitors, and thereupon the Buttery Hatch adjournment was announced. In replying to "The Visitors" toast. Paleface C. J. McGurk, of Pahiatua, said he would always cherish happy memories of his visit to the Hamua tribe. Other visitors were Palefaces R. Brisco (Mamaku), A. Carsten and J. Watt (Masterton).

Opening the second half of the programme, the orchestra played "Summer Nights” and "Grand March Majesty.” The newly-formed Glee Club, under the baton of Savage J. B. McPherson, rendered two glees, and the applause that greeted these items showed that members appreciated the hard work that has been put in by the leader in training this party. A short thumbnail sketch by the Dramatic Club. "School’s In." was followed by Savage Maxted’s two vocal solos and the singing of the "Closing Ode” and "God Save the King" brought another pleasant evening to a close. Savages who intend to take part in the Carterton raid are to meet at the "Wharepuni” next Saturday, at 7.30 p.m.
