DREDGE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) GORE, This Day
One of the few remaining Southland dredges, owned by Mr John Aitken, of Gore, which has been operating during the past month in the Chatton district, was destroyed by fire at daylight on Sunday morning. It is believed that the fire was started by a spark from the boiler room grate. Efforts will be made to salvage the machinery. but the owner is a heavy loser, as the dredge was not insured. Heavy snow is falling here.
