SNOW ON RANGES

RIMUTAKA ROAD AFFECTED.

CARE IN DRIVING NECESSARY.

Snow fell on the Rimutaka Hill this morning between 9.30 and 10 o’clock and car drivers had to exercise some care in negotiating the hill. The conditions, however, according to official advice from the Wairarapa Automobile Association were not really bad. On the top of the hill from Ilin, to 2in. of snow was recorded and Automobile Association and Public Works men placed sand on the corners to prevent cars from skidding. Later in the morning the conditions rapidlj' improved and no great trouble was experienced by car drivers provided they exercised, reasonable care.

Much the same conditions were reported on the Mt. Bruce Road, where snow also fell this morning.
