GREYMOUTH, This Day.

In the Magistrate’s Court, Thomas Brown was fined- £3 for damaging a safety lamp issued to him at the Dob son Mine.

Counsel for the Company said Brown had been seen tampering with the lamp’s safety apparatus and over one hundred men were endangered as a result of defendant’s foolish action. Mr R. Ferner, S.M., described the offence as a serious one. He did not remember dealing with a similar case
