AN AMBITIOUS LIE

HONG KONG HANDED OVER TO JAPAN.

STORY BY CONTROLLED PAPER IN HANKOW.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.

LONDON, July 13.

The Hong Kong correspondent of the “Daily Express" says: “The biggest lie of the war was told in Hankow by a Japanese-owned newspaper in which it was asserted that Britain had handed over Hong Kong to the Japanese amid tumultuous Chinese rejoicing.

“A torrent of anti-British propaganda is sweeping South China. In the Japanese-controlled Press it is variously asserted the Chinese are fleeing from Hong Kong because of British brutality and British poisoning of Hong .Kong reservoirs.”
