Visitors were present from all parts of the Wairarapa and indeed even , from further afield than Wairarapa. The ball was a wonderful success from all points of view. The hall was very tastefully decorated for the occasion by a willing band of workers, the colours being principally those of the club, maroon. In front of the stage a large streamer in maroon bearing the word “Welcome” was displayed and below this emblem on another streamer were the words 1879-Jubilee-1939. Around the walls were displayed the banners won by the club in the early days of its career; intermingled with other ornamentation which made a most striking effect. The supper-room also had its full share of decoration with streamers and the. .tables, were profusely decorated with Iceland poppies. The music, eight instruments, was supplied by Udy’s Dance Band. The M.C's. were Messrs Geo. Brown, Joe Fitzgerald and Jim Steffert and under their able guidance there was not a dull moment during the long list of 22 dances. The secretary, Mr Geo.
