SUMMARY FOR JUNE. Miss A. M. Brown, Masterton weather recorder, supplies the following summary for June (figures for June last year given in parentheses): — Pressure at 9 a.m. standard time, highest, 30.57 inches on 4th, (30.64); lowest, 29.57 on 21st (29.5).
Temperatures: Absolute shade maximum, 65.3 degrees on sth (63.8); absolute shade minimum, 27.7 degrees on 15th (25.7). Thus the range was 37.6 (38.1). Mean temperature for the month, 48.9 (45.9). Absolute grass minimum. 31.1 (29.); average at one foot underground. 46.9 (46.8). Severest frost, 10.8 on night of 15th (12.8). Days of frost (grass minimum 30.4 degrees Fahr, or lower), 17 (21); of shade temperature below 32 degrees F„ 6 (8); of gale 4 (1). Total rainfall, 2.74 inches on 14 days (3.06); greatest fall 77 points on 19th (94). Total sunshine, 125 hours (123.4): daily average, 4.2; sunniest day. 8.3 hours (8.8); wind run 1600 miles (1915); average 53.3. During Miss Brown's recent absence on holiday, Mr Angus Ross capably carried out the work in connection with the meteorological observations.
