YOUNG FARMERS
MEETING OF CARTERTON CLUB. ADDRESS ON PIG INDUSTRY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Carterit Club was held in ie P. and A. rooms on Wednesday, July 5, at 7.30 .m. The chairman, Mr A. D. isher, presided over a fair ttendance of members. An bsence was received from Mr M. Thompson. It was decided to hold the club’s fourth birthday party in the Band Room, Carterton, on Thursday, July 13. It was also agreed to hold the annual ping-pong match with the Masterton Club on July 27 in Masterton, provided the date and place were suitable to Masterton. It was decided to request an officer of the Defence Department to address the next meeting, to be held on August 14. A letter was read from Mr N. Lamont regarding Mr W. F. McLaren’s generous offer of £3 3s for the best essay on “Why I Am a Young Farmers’ Club Member.” Members showed considerable interest in the proposal, and no doubt several entries will be forthcoming. Mr M. J. Scott, Superintendent of the Pig Industry, was present and showed several films dealing with reproduction tuberculosis, etc. The films were greatly appreciated by members and the several farmers present. After answering several questions. Mr Scott was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
