Vancouver. —Both wolves and bears prey upon the Canadian salmon on its Struggle up-stream during the annual spawning season. These animals scoop up the fish in the narrow parts of streams and rivers where the water is too shallow to permit escape. Government fisheries inspectors report that in 1938 "wolves were a decided menace to the salmon runs. In other years where an odd salmon would be found fished out by wolves, this year there were tens and hundreds.”
