SNOWCLAD HILLS

AN INSPIRING SIGHT.

ROADS VERY SLIPPERY.

(“Times-Age” Special.)

Yesterday’s snowfall was particularly heavy on the main north highway to Eketahuna. Reports this afternoon state that at Eketahuna there are two to three inches of snow dry and hard down to the roadside. The view of the snowclad hills with deep snowdrifts in the gullies was. this afternoon, a really inspiring sight. Heavy, patches of snow arc still to be seen on the south side of every telegraph pole on lhe main road to Eketahuna, driven there by the strong southerly wind of yesterday. The fall of snow was very heavy from Masterton to Mt. Bruce, but thins out up to Eketahuna and ends in the neighbourhood of Hukanui. In the shady parts of the road the icy surface makes motoring difficult and drivers should be careful par» ticularly at night.
