STEEPLECHASE WON BY GIANT KILLER.

The following are the principal results in the V.R.C. races at Flemington today:—
Grand National Steeplechase. 3m.: Giant Killer. 10.11 (R. Watts), 1; Turf Boy, 12.0 (A. Fullarton),2; Wakerife. 9.9 (N. Bracken), 3. Fifteen started. Giant Killer gave a surprising performance. He was last away, but moved up swiftly and was in front a mile and a half from home. He cleared right away and won easily by five lengths, with Wakerife three lengths away, third. Time, 6.15?. The fancier candidates, Deckarct and Grantley, fell. W. Burke’s stable trained the winners of the Grand National double, including Green Cape in the hurdles last Saturday. Doutla Galla Hurdle Race, 2jm.: Green Cape, 10.13 (Dummett), 1; Cherry Jack, 10.5 (Windle). 2; Cape Race, 10.1 (Sweetnam), 3. Five started: Cherry Jack actually won by half a head, but was placed second on a successful protest. DOOMBEN CUP WON BY COORANGA. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. BRISBANE, July 8. The following was the result of the Doomden Cup, Im. and 3f.: Cooranga, 8.1 (Parsons), 1; Hilarious, 7.4 (Lappin), 2; Teringa, 7.9 (Tebb), 3. Seventeen started, including The Squire, which was fourth. Length; half a length. Time, 2.19,?.
