MINIATURE RIFLES
GOOD WORK BEING DONE BY CLUBS. APPRECIATION EXPRESSED BY CHIEF OF STAFF. iRv Telegranh—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Opening the Wellington miniature rifle championship meeting, MajorGeneral Duigan, Chief of the General Staff; said he was sorry he had not been able to see more of the work of miniature rifle clubs, which were of great value to the Defence forces, as a man used to shooting with a .22 had very little more to learn when handed a Service rifle. By training their members in shooting the clubs were assisting the Territorial forces. Referring to the high standard of marksmanship at miniature rifle meetings, he mentioned that one member of the Wellington Miniature Rifle Association had won the highest prize in New Zealand in the rifle meeting at Trentham on two occasions. About one hundred competitors are participating at the meeting, including some from the Manawatu and the Wairarapa.
