WEDDING

WHITEMAN-HUBBABD. The wedding was celebrated recently at St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, of Edna Rachel, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. Hubbard of Masterton, to William George, third son of Mr and Mrs G. W. Whiteman, Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev T. V. Pearson and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride, wiio was escorted by her father, wore a frock of cream faconne cut on simple tailored lines, finished with a small scalloped collar and a tiny row of buttons from the neck to the waistline. The embroidered tulle veil, which was kindly lent by a friend, was held in place by a top knot of gardenias. Her full shower bouquet consisted of St Joseph’s lilies, chrysanthemums, June roses and maidenhair fern.

The bride was attended by Miss Olive Whiteman, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid and little June Newland, niece of the bride, as flowergirl. They were attired in dainty frocks of ice-blue crankle chiffon over taffeta, made with rucked bodices, full skirts and sashes of mauve and cyclamen narrow velvet ribbon. They wore top-knots of mauve and cyclamen flowers and they carried a bouquet and Victorian posy to tone respectively, of anemones, cyclamens, June roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr lan Percy as best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horse shoe by her niece, Helen Newland.

After tlie ceremony a reception was held at the Masonic Hall. The guests were received by Mrs Hubbard, assisted by Mrs Whiteman. The bride’s mother wore a black tailored coat, over a black sheer satin frock, matching accessories, fur necklet and carried a bouquet of autumn and gold tonings. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a black coat trimmed with grey fur over a frock of bengalene crepe and matching accessories and carried a bouquet of red and gold tonings. When Mr and Mrs Whiteman left by car for the north the bride was wearing a dark tan coat over a tan frock, and accessories and a fur necklet. Their future home will be in Masterton.
