SALE OF BLOODSTOCK
BEAULIVRE FETCHES 2900gns. MR W. HIGGINS'S STOCK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The feature of the dispersal sale of the late Mr W. Higgins’s sale held in Trentham yesterday by Messrs Wright. Stephenson and Co. Ltd. was the price fetched by Beaulivre. He was the first horse in the ring and. starting at 1500 gns, he evoked keen competition, the final bidder being the Hastings trainer S. J. Reid at 2,900gn5. Reid was bidding on behalf of a new patron. Mr E. Harnett. of Wellington, who has thus chosen a first-class colt to carry his colours for the first time. Globe Trotter was also sought and, starting at 400gns, went at 780. He also was purchased by a Wellington owner. The promising Royal Star 11, who went wrong in training, went for a hack price to the only bidder, but Globe Trotters yearling brother fetched 225 gns, also being purchased by Wellington owners, and he may remain with H. Telford. So also may Siglow, the two-year-old brother to Sigurd, who was knocked down to Mr E. C. Day. of Hamilton, who is interested in Bryce Street. The Heroic colt Cornaro was passed at 220gns. The stallion Safari brought 340gns. Jan Ridd was the only horse sold by Mr R. T. Reid, of Hamil-
ton. Rollicker, Whirling and Royal Bachelor failing to reach their reserves. The stallions Captain Bunsby. Rulanut, Midian and The Crooner were also passed, as also were Aureus, Dorak and Haile Selassie. The auctioneer was Mr J. Broad, of the firm’s Masterton branch. The weather was very cold, with a few light showers, but the sale was able to be held in the open and there was a very large attendance. The following sales were made: — On account Estate Late W.
