TIVOLI THEATRE

CARTERTON. In presenting Deanna Durbin in her latest triumph, "Three Smart Girls Grow Up.” the Tivoli is contributing in no uncertain manner to the success of the Carterton Football Club Jubilee. Entertainment of such universal appeal is rarely achieved, and the recordbreaking season at the St. James Theatre. Wellington, just completed, augers well for the success of the Wairarapa premiere on Saturday next. The offering differs from Deanna’s “Three Smart Girls,” made some two and a half years ago. Since then Deanna has become recognised as one of the best film actresses as well as the possessor of fhe most amazing voice ever heard from the screen. In "Three Smart Girls Grow Up,” Deanna is seen as a very rich girl, and she wears a wardrobe in keeping with her station in life. It is the first time she has ever been seen with a full outfit of "nice” clothes. Too, she wears her first evening gown in several sequences of the production. The 16-year-old soprano sings four songs in the picture: "Invitation to the Dance,” by Weber; "The Last Rose of Summer.” from Flotow’s opera “Martha;” "La Capinera” (The Wren), by Sir Julius Benedict;- and "Because." by Ed. Teschemacher and Guy D’Hardelot. Unprecedented interest is already manifest by the early demand for seats and intending patrons are urged to make reservations without delay.
