INTOXICATION CHARGE

ERRATIC DRIVING ON RACE DAY. MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR 14 DAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A plea that there had been no accident did not avail John George Cummings, who was charged at Lower Hutt today with intoxication while in charge of a car. A car being driven in an erratic manner was noticed by a traffic officer controlling yesterday’s race traffic at Taita and an arrest followed.

Mr Goulding, S.M., said the vigilance of the officer was probably responsible for there being no accident. He sentenced Cummings to imprisonment for 14 days, cancelled his licence and ordered him to pay medical expenses.
