FIGURES SHOW CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT. (British Official Wireless.! RUGBY, July 3. The Ministry of Labour returns show another considerable decline in the numbers of registered unemployed. It estimates the number of insured persons in employment in Great Britain at June 12 to have been about 12,810,000 —an increase of 143,000 compared with the previous month and. on a comparable basis, about 600,000 more than a year ago. On the same date the registered unemployed totalled 1.349,579, comprising 1.098.7*93 wholly unemployed, 195.625 temporarily laid off, and 55.161 normally in casual employment. The total was 142,703 less than a month before and 453.333 less than a year ago.
