BEAUTY CULTURE
OBSERVATIONS BY SPECIALIST. REGULAR TREATMENT ESSENTIAL Modern methods of beauty culture are based on the daily care of the skin. The treatment is very simple but it must be carried out regularly, which means every day, said Miss Delys Brand, a beauty specialist who is at present visiting Masterton. Miss Brand has had extensive experience of beauty culture at the salons of James Seymour, London, which are considered the most modern in that city and has also toured extensively in all parts of the British Empire. One of the things that women forget until it is very forcibly brought home to them with the appearance of crepeyness, observed Miss Brand, is the fact that they possess a neck. It is just as important to give special attention to the'neck as to the face and quite frequently lines appear on the neck before they do around the eyes. In cases where necks have been neglected there are special creams available these days for restoring the vitality of the skin. These creams are based on the latest discoveries of scientific research and have a very high content of the right hormones. By using the correct creams and lotions there is so much that the woman of today can do to improve her skin, whatever it is like, and even if the skin is already perfect care should be taken to keep it that way because it has to last a long time. One of the first essentials to a woman’s make-up, said Miss Brand, is that it should tone not only with her skin but also with the clothes she is wearing. For instance, orange-toned make-up does not go with cyclamen, wine and mulberry clothing despite the fact that many women think it does. A great many people make the mistake of using far too much rouge. If a woman is naturally pale it is more to her advantage to use very little rouge, to give herself a healthy but not hearty appearance.
