The Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting was held in dull and cold weather and attracted a fairly good attendance. The track was in good order but a shade on the slow side. The Grand National Hurdle Race resulted: —Green Cape, 9.8 (Dummett). 1; Restford. 9.9 (Fullarton), 2; Cape Race, 9.7 (Bracken), 3. Fourteen horses started. Nevizes made the early running from Ringford, Bobken and Green Cape. The last-named came up in the final round and moved into second place, and then came Pooley Bridge, and Restford. With half a mile to go Green Cape took charge from Cape Race and Restford. Green Cape led into the straight from Restford and easily beat that rival by three lengths and a half. Cape Race finished two lengths away. The time was 5.49 J. ' v The Kensington Steeplechase resulted:—Mustella, 9.11 (Innes), 1; Trentwood, 9.0 (McKee); 2; Turf Boy 12.7 (Douglas), 3. Twelve started.
