FOOTBALL RESULTS WIN FOR PONGAROA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following are the results of Saturday’s matches, both ’of which were played on the Pongaroa Domain: Pongaroa 5, Coast 3; Pukehinau 0, Tiraumea 0. PUKETOI REP. TEAM The Bush senior representative-team will play a return match against the Puketoi subunion on Wednesday next. The sole selector, Mr P. H. Donovan, has announced the following team to represent Puketoi: —Backs: I. Hay, F. Hodder, F. Herbert, H. Urquhart, D. Bowie (vice-captain), L. Berry, W. Hartgill; forwards, H. Maranui, R. Newland, J. McMillan, W. Meech, G. Laing (captain), G. Thompson, W. Thomas, E. Lynch. Emergencies: Backs—B. Little, C. Watson. Forwards —J. Meech, C. Gichard. M. Harold. Mr D. McDonald, of Pongaroa, has been chosen to control the game. Pongaroa v Old Boys. Arrangements are in hand for a visit from the Masterton Old Boys senior team to play a local club fifteen. If suitable to both clubs the match will be played on Saturday, July 15. ELECTRICITY BALL GATHERING AT RAKANUI. A very enjoyable dance was held in the Rakanui Hall on Thursday evening last to celebrate the reticulation of the district. The hall, both outside as well as inside, had been decorated with coloured lights by the Power Board staff, and together with coloured streamers presented a very festive sight. Visitors were present from far and near, and the music supplied by Ken Hicks’s Merry Makers left nothing to be desired. Extras played by Misses J. Veale and H. Bellshaw were much appreciated. A dainty home-made supper was served by the local ladies. During the evening Mr A. Ruskell introduced Mr J. D. Wilson, chairman of the Tararua Electric Power Board, who in a few well-chosen words congratulated the settlers on their efforts to bring electric power to the district. Mr L. Johnston, the local member of the board, endorsed Mr Wilson's remarks. COAST HOCKEY TEAM ENJOYABLE DANCE. The Coast hockey team gave a very enjoyable dance on Saturday evening. Music was supplied by the Aohanga Maori Party, and songs by Mr Power and Mrs Booters were much enjoyed. Full justice was done to the supper served by the girls, who are to be congratulated on their enterprise. GOLF COMPETITION MEN'S FOURSOME. A men's Canadian foursome, played during the xyeekend was won by Messrs R. McGregor and R. Cowper. The ladies’ medal round resulted in a win for Mrs R. C. Scott. HOCKEY GAMES PONGAROA SUCCESSFUL. At a hockey match played on the local ground, Pongaroa defeated Tiraumea by 3 goals to 0. The goals were scored by Misses E. Yeoman (2) and N. Herbert. The position of the teams is as fol-lows:-—Coast, 8 points; Pongaroa, 5 points; Tiraumea. 3 points. Personal Items. Misses G. Harman and P. Pickett, Tiraumea, who have been touring the North Island, have returned home. Messrs P. R. Kent and G. Jensen. Pongaroa, will leave by the Wanganella for Australia on Thursday next. They will return by the Awatea towards the end of the month. Mrs H. Seymour is a visitor to Wellington for race week. Mr McLean. Motu, has been visiting Mr D. W. Gray, Glenwai Station, Pongaroa. Mrs G. T. Smith and family have returned to Pongaroa from a visit to Mrs R, Gray, Te Rehunga, Hawke's Bay.
