COURSING
WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING. y s THE SLAM WINS THE PHYSICK CUP. The Wairarapa Coursing Club’s s meeting was held on Saturday afternoon under ideal conditions, before a r fair attendance of spectators. Brilliant t coursing was witnessed in the Physick s Cup and Maiden and Consolation stakes. _ I 1 In the two major events Mrs L. H. 1 Jones scored a double win with The » Slam and Flying Joe. Both dogs were -j well trained and in the best of condiE tion, especially the Cup winner. The 2 Slam won his courses in convincing i style. The Consolation winner, Mr J. t Hare’s The Trump, which galloped in i faultless style. He was unlucky to be 1 just beaten in the Cup. This dog has a s great future and seems to go better in r each course. t An innovation at Akura’ was the ■ timing of each course, which proved 1 popular with owners and spectators alike. The courses varied from 25sec t to 92 sec, and it can be gauged from the i times taken that a good variety of! i sport was seen, the hares being very • tricky and elusive, giving the dogs a ■ good run and after doubling and 1 twisting reaching the escapes well ■ ahead of the dogs. 1 The following are the results: —
