Colonel Edgar Gorrell, president of the American Air Transport Association, who was a passenger by the Yankee Clipper (which has opened the North Atlantic service), said in an interview that he expected to see highflying aircraft- flying regularly between America and Australia, via the South Pole within 10 years. He thought that a North Polar route would also be regularly used for commercial flying. He added that aircraft with six engines were already being built in the United States.
