WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION MEETING IN MASTERTON. QtfEEN CARNIVAL PROPOSED. A meeting of the Wairarapa Women’s Hockey Association was held in Masterton last evening Mr W. Harding presided. The New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association wrote stating that the New Zealand tournament for this season had been allotted to Marlborough. Entries will close on July 28. It was decided to enter a team from Wairarapa. The New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association advised that the application from Wairarapa for the 1940 tournament had been received, and Would be given consideration when the final applications had been received. The Association also stated that Australia had been invited to be represented at the 1940 tournament. A request Was made that the names of A grade referees who would be willing to act as examiners for practical work be forwarded to the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association. It was decided to forward the names of Messrs W.-Hard-ing and G. Maloney. The report and balance in connection With the recent tournament held at Lansdowne was received, and the tournament committee accorded a hearty vote of thanks for Their work. An application from the College Cliib to have Miss M. Reid regraded 'to jun-■ ior was granted. iThe College was granted permission to play at Wanganui on August 5. Mr Robertson was thanked for donating a cup for competition between the Wellington ahd Wairarapa junior representatives. It Was decided to close the senior championship at the conclusion of the second round, and to play a complete round for the Kia Toa Cup. A donation Was made to the Wairarapa Hockey tlmpiros’ Association. It Was decided to write to the Wellington, Ruahine, and Akitio Associations requesting representative games with Wairarapa. The Association in-tends-to conduct a queen carnival to raise funds for the team which attends the tournament. An effort is’to’be made to get two candidates in Masterton and one in Carterton. A committee was set up to make arrangements and to report at a meeting to be held very soon. The Excelsior Club wrote stating tljat they would be prepared to assist in making the venture a success. The Kia Ora also expressed their Willingness to cooperate, and it is hoped that the other club will be represented at the ‘special meeting.
