EUCHRE TOURNAMENT LAST OF SERIES. , (“Times-Age” Special.) The last of the euchre tournaments conducted by the Home and School Association was well attended. The prizewinners were as follow: Ladies, Mrs Lynskey 1, Mrs Wendon 2; men, Mr Crawford 1, Mr Worsley 2. Aggregate: Mrs F. O’Neale and Mr Worsley. Mr Rae’s prizes were won by Mrs Skipage (ladies) and Mr Jackson (men). COSY THEATRE EXENSIVE ALTERATIONS. The Cosy picture theatre is to be closed for a period to undergo extensive alterations which include a new talkie plant, seating and furnishings as well as a heating and cooling plant.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Home and School Association was attended by Miss Card (president), Mesdames Carlyon, McKenzie, J. Buck, H. Lawson, Messrs Hayes, Allen, Lowell and Cole. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Rea, Harkness, Messrs Willett and Kilsby. Messrs Cole and Allen were re-elect-ed the Association’s representative on the Dental Clinic. Accounts amounting to £8 7s were passed for payment. It was decided to discontinue the weekly .euchre card parties. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the com - mittee who have been conducting the parties. It was decided to write to the School Committee urging that body to urge upon both the Education Board and the Education Department the expediting of the building of the new school, and stressing the unsatisfactory state of the gymnasium which is being used for school purposes owing to the shortage of class rooms. Golf Match. A match between teams selected by the captain and secretary was played at the Gum Grove links and resulted in a win for the former by one game. A sealed hole competition was won by Miss Williams. In a bogey competition Miss .Williams and Miss Bloxam were all square, and Mrs R. Donald and Miss M. Ruano 5 down. Personal. The death occurred on Monday of Mrs Ada Tabart (nee Tyer) at the residence of her sister Mrs Berger, Bell Street, Featherston. The late Mrs Tabart lived with her parents at Tauherenikau prior to her marriage. At the time of her death she was a resident of Wanganui. The deceased leaves two daughters and a son to mourn their loss. Miss G. Ridler, Wellington, is spending a few days in Featherston and is the guest of Mrs H, Lawson.
