FEATHERSTON
BOXING TOURNAMENT GOOD FORM DISPLAYED. ("Times-Age’' Special.) The Featherston Boxing Club held a ’most successful tournament' in the Town Hall on Monday night there being a large attendance. Some splendid form was shown and the contests generally were of an exciting nature. The progress which the Featherston Boxing Club has made this year has been largely due to the splendid work of Messrs Alf Jensen and Bill Sturdee in particular. The prizes were presented by Mr R. F. Watson, president of the club. The officials were:—Referee, Mr A. Allison (Greytown); Judges. Messrs T. Logie (Lower Hutt), H. Rolls (Featherston); announcer, Mr J. Brophy; secretary, Mr W. Jeffrey. The following are the results, Featherston boxers being mentioned first in each instance; —Thorn lost to McPherson; Sturdee beat Olliver; Bass lost to P. Olliver; Jensen lost to Don • nelly; Cherry lost to Murph,y; Sim beat L. Olliver; Kinsey lost to Phelps; Jury and Brailey drew; Kennedy beat Strickland; Alexander beat Turner; Morris beat McMillan. Special prizes were won as follow: — Most scientific boxer, Murphy (trophy donated by Mr L. Lambess). Best local junior: T. Sturdee (trophy presented by Mr B. Hemi). Best loser: Turner (trophy donated by Mr T. Hardie). Personal Items. Mr M. Benton left today on a holiday which is to be spent in Auckland. Mr W. G. Cuff, who entered the Wellington Hospital two weeks ago for treatment, is making good progress towards recovery.
