CEREMONY AT CARTERTON. A UNIQUE OCCASION. (“Times-Age" Special.) The “wetting of the head" of the first child (a daughter) of the Mayor of Carterton (Mr D. L. Taverner) was carried out in traditional style at the meeting of ' the Carterton Borough Council last night, when the Councillors and Press representatives were entertained. “This is indeed a unique occasion, as it is the first time a Mayor of Carterton has been presented with a child during his term of office,” said Councillor H. Mortenson, wfio extended the congratulations of the Councillors to Mr and Mrs Taverner and expressed 1 )□_ 'pest, wishes for the child's future. Miss'O. Wolters supported Councillor Mortenson in his remarks. Mr Taverner feelingly returned thanks.
