Anticipating that the tight between Joe Louis and Tony Qalento on Wednesday will be rough and foul, the police are assigning 2000 extra men and many mounted police to the Yankee Stadium and Harlem. This is the largest protective force in New York's history for a sports event. "Two-Ton” Tony, who has been beaten 22 times, lacks speed and science. It is stated that he intends to get close and "rough up” Louis. The champion's reply to this was. “It's okay with me. Ah can get rough, too!*

The heavy policing is due to the fact that Galento is of Italian extraction. and the world’s most thicklypopulated black belt is just across the river from the stadium. The Ethiopian incident has not been forgotten in Harlem.

Galento’s manager, Mr Joe Jacobs, has alleged that Louis's seconds in the past substituted smaller gloves for those approved at the weigh-in. He intends carrying the scales into the ring to weigh the champion's gloves before the fight.
