MAURICEVILLE WEST

COMING OF AGE PARTY ENJOYABLE GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very happy time was spent in the Mauriceville West Memorial Hall on Saturday evening when Mr J. Williams entertained a large number of friends at a social and dance in honour of the coming of age of his eldest son, Norman. Splendid music for dancing was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra, while much-appreciated extras were played by Mr and Mrs C. Minifie. Vocal items were rendered by Mrs Hooker (Wellington) and Mr N. Williams; an elocutionary item by Miss I. Newman while little Marion Minifie pleased all present with two songs accompanied by tap dances. At a suitable interval Mr 11. C. Mortensen asked Mr Norman Williams to light the 21 candles on the birthday cake, and on behalf of the gathering extended hearty congratulations to him on attaining his majority. He also spoke of Mr Williams's keen interest in all the district activities and he felt quite sure that interest would now be increased considerably. He then asked all to drink the health of the guest. \

Mr J. Williams, in presenting his son with the golden key, spoke very highly of the merits of his son. He was extremely pleased to sec that such a large number of friends had gathered to honour him on his 21st birthday. Musical honours were accorded Mr Norman Williams, who suitably replied. The happy gathering was brought to a conclusion with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Personal Items. Misses Margaret and Joyce Larsen and Mr Ivan Larsen, have left on a motor tour to the North. Mrs A.
