Gales and storms in the Tasman have been encountered by the Awatea, which has been delayed about an hour, and the Wanganella, which will arrive about five hours late. Grave fears are held for the safety of V. Carmody, aged 38, and Edward Butler, aged 35, who left Newcastle in a launch for a morning’s fishing and failed to return last night. A westerly gale was blowing off the coast all day.
