The Artillery Board, has disclosed that a new 155 millimetre field gun in tests fired a 1001 b shell over 15 miles and blew a hole 16 feet in the ground. The shot was the longest ever fired from a standard United States field piece. The weapon has been adopted ns the standard for long-range fire and is now being turned out in undisclosed numbers. It weighs 15 tons and is mounted on a 10-wheel carriage capable of travelling at 12 miles an hour. The army has perfected a powerful 37-millimetre anti-tank gun. The projectile penetrates 11--inch armourplate two-thirds of a mile away.
