MODEL AIRPLANES
INTER-CLU& CONTEST WIN FOR W. G. PERRY. TWO MASTERTON MODELS LOST. A very enjoyable inter-club contest between clubs representing Wanganui, Palmerston North, Foxton, Wellington and Masterton was held at Foxton on Sunday under the auspices of the Foxton Model Aero Club and the Wanganui Model Aeronautical Society. The weather conditions were very unfavourable in the morning but changed to sunshine in the afternoon, enacting the many competitors to record some fine flights. Messrs A. Rowe, of Auckland, who was a member of the Masterton team, and N. Churchouse, also of Masterton. lost their gas models early in the meet due to the high wind carrying them out of sight after gaining several hundred feet altitude. These models were not recovered when darkness fell, but the Foxton Model Aero Club are to organise a search party and hope to recover them within the next two or three days. The Masterton team featured prominently in the contest. Mr W. G. Perry, who is a very active member of the club, flew his Flying Quaker gas model, "Daddy,” and won the class A event, with P. Blatchford’s “T.D. Coupe” a close a second.
The results are as follows: —Class B gas models of under 400 sq. in. wing area: L. Wright, Wellington, 1. Class A, gas models of over 400 sq. in. wing area: W. G., Perry, Masterton, 1. Fuselage models, rubber driver: E. Thornley, Wellington, 1.
