Messrs Olaf Lund, Thomas Fouhy, John Moore, Ronald David Wylie, Lester Herbert Hughes, Percy Webb Matthews and Alfred George Jenkins have been appointed the Marima Domain Board, to control an area of over 21 acres of recreation reserve at Marima. WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers Union was held in the Anglican Sunday School Room. Prior to the general meeting a committee meeting was held, presided over by Mrs S. M. George in the absence of the President, Mrs Welch. A request from several members that the meetings should be held earlier was discussed and it was decided that in future meetings will commence at 1 p.m. instead of 1.30. It was decided to ask Miss Barr to be speaker in August and a letter was received from Miss Elsie Andrews saying that she would be able to address the meeting in September. Delegates to the July Conference will give their reports at the next meeting. Miss A. Anderson presided over a good attendance at the general meetig. A presentation of a W.D.F.U. spopn was made to Mrs Fox by the acting President who, on behalf of the members thanked her warmly for her willing help to the branch at all times and especially for her assistance at social afternoons. Mrs Fox suitably replied. A spoon was also sent to Mrs Lozell, who is also severing her connection with the branch and who has kindly judged at all the Arts and Crafts displays. Mrs George was appointed one of the advisory members of the branch.

Members stood in silence for a few minutes out of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr A. Falkner. Mr C. Bannister, who was to have been the speaker for the afternoon was unfortunately not able to be present, but Mrs J. E. Dodds very kindly addressed the members, her subject being “Our Maori People.” The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Brookes and Olivant. RUGBY FOOTBALL. DOUBLE WIN FOR EKETAHUNA. There was a large gathering of Pu» tara settlers in the local hall to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs and Miss Priest, who were leaving the district to reside in Auckland. Mrs Priest was present but Mr and Miss Priest were unavoidably absent. Mr T. Hancock referred to the deep feeling of regret felt by all residents at losing such good friends as Mr and Mrs Priest. Mr Priest had lived in the Valley for upwards of forty years and Mrs Priest for over thirty. They had shown themselves possessed of courage and all the qualities that made good settlers, good neighbours and good friends. He asked their acceptance of a gift for their new home and with it the best wishes of all their friends for a happy life in enjoyment of the rest they had earned. The gift took the form of a chiming clock and with it a bedroom clock, for Miss Ina Priest, their only daughter. Mr Hector Priest replied on behalf of his mother, his father and sister having preceded her to Auckland where their new home will be.

Five of Mr Priest’s sons were present, the sixth, Mr Thomas, being unable to come up from Wellington.
