“The boot trade is booming, and I could place 30 journeywomen tomorrow if I could get them, and I would gladly do so in. order to find employment for men who left the trade during the slump,” said Mr C. A. Watts, secretary of the Boot Operatives' Union, in Auckland. “The position, however. is that men cannot be placed until women operatives are secured, as women are the key to the whole position in the trade. I have written to Australia for women employees, but unfortunately there are none available.”
