AMERICAN JOURNALISM
W. C. BRYANT'S ASSOCIATION. One of the most celebrated names in the early history of American journalism, is that William Cullen Bryant, for many years editor-in-chief of the “New York Evening Post.” By his ability, dignity and adherence to principles, he did much to raise the tone of journalism in the nineteenth century. After unveiling a bust of Mazzini, in Central Park in New York. Bryant tripped over a doorstep while entering a house. The injuries he received resulted in his death a fortnight later. June 12. 1878.
