SECURITY TAX
NOT PAYABLE ON SAVINGS DEPOSITS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Prime Minister (Mr Savage) stated today that it had come under his notice that some people were under the impression that the Social Security tax of one shilling in the pound was payable on Savings Bank deposits. This was incorrect. The tax was payable only on interest earned by deposits.
