TABLE TENNIS
WINTER SPORTS CLUB. COMBINED DOUBLES CONTESTS. At the club room on Saturday night the Masterton Winter Sports Club conducted a combined doubles trophy competition in which Mrs B. Hurley and Mr M. Winslade won the A section, and Messrs G. Hansen and C. McGrath the B section. In the final Mrs Hurley and Mr Winslade conceding 10 points defeated Messrs Hansen and McGrath in the advantage game, 21/18, 14/21, 21/18. At the supper adjournment the President (Mr J. Haywood) presented the trophies, and congratulated the winners. He also expressed the pleasure of the club at having present members of the Kaiparora table tennis club. After supper ladder games were played, a match of special interest being a challenge for top place in which I. Coleman was successful in defeating J. Nicholls in a three-set match after a very keen contest. The Association’s teams competition will commence on Monday, July 2, players to represent the Winter Sports Club will be selected and will be published on Wednesday next.
