A. AND P. SOCIETY REMOVAL OF BELT OF TREES. 1•• • • • (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance of members of the Committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society on the Carterton Showgrounds yesterday, when the work of removing a belt of pinus insignus trees on the western side of the grounds was commenced. The work was not completed yesterday, and a further working bee will be held. After the trees are removed the ground l will be levelled off. Carterton will then possess one of the finest show grounds in the Dominion, able to handle a Royal Show. Hockey Match. On Carrington Park on Saturday there should be witnessed one of the finest games this season, when Kiwi will meet Cartertor\. Born clubs are well in the running for championship honours and- with favourable weather conditions the game should be a very fast and interesting one. Carterton will be represented as follows: —J. Newbould, A. Harp, S. Fisher, I. Mackie, M. Worsfold, B; Roberts, A. Ward, V. Sayer, D. Jackson, K. Goodin and A. Fisher. Five Hundred Tournament. Last Tuesday afternoon a very successful 500 tournament was held in the band room, Holloway Street, under the supervision of Mrs Bradbury. A committee of ladies served a dainty afternoon tea. Football Jubilee. The jubilee celebrations of the Carterton Football Club take place on July 8,9, and 10. There will be a procession of old players on July 8, as well as football matches. A “smoko” will be held'in the P. and A. tea kiosk in the evening, a church parade of old and present day players on Sunday, and the jubilee ball on Monday. The history of football in Carterton will be put in book form. Personal. Mr W. B. Allen, who recently entered the South Wairarapa Hospital for treatment, is much improved in health. Mr R. B. Rayner, who has been on the sick list for some time is getting about again. . Football Teams.- .z-/>•.
