TRIPLE MURDER
MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH IN HOBART. Ry Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day. 10.5 a.m.) HOBART, June 22. Cyril Estcourt. aged 30. has been sentenced to death for the murder of his wife and two men. The jury, in finding Estcourl guilty added a recommendation for mercy, because of Estcourt’s mentality.
A cablegram from Hobart stated that arising out of the shooting of a young married woman and two men at Grass Hill, near Hobart, on April 24, Cyril Estcourt, aged 22. the husband of the woman victim, Doreen Estcourt. was charged with triple murder. Mr and Mrs Estcourt had been married only three months. The two men victims were Norman Williams, aged 50, and Alfred Webb, aged 55. Neighbours say that they saw Mrs Estcourt, pursued by a man, running in the direction of a house occupied by Williams, his wife, and four children, and that she ran inside. Williams was shot through the heart and Mrs Estcourt was shot in the neck. The man then went to the home of Webb, who is almost blind. Webb was shot through the heart.
