TERRITORIAL UNITS
REARRANGEMENT IN MASTERTON. MACHINE GUN PLATOON ' TO BE ESTABLISHED. By a rearrangement of the- Territorial units in Masterton, the strength of the local forces is being increased by 85. Of that number about 55 men are already available, leaving about 30 recruits still required to bring the forces up to strength. Recruiting in Masterton has been quite good, as since June 3 as many as 36 men have come forward. In addition 25 motor-cyclists have expressed their willingness to form a motor-cy-cle platoon here.
At present a mortar platoon and a light automatic platoon are stationed in Masterton, but under the new arrangement a machine-gun platoon will be established here, and two light automatic platoons. The mortar unit will probably stationed in Hastings. In addition, the troop of mounted rifles in‘the Wairarapa and Bush districts will be increased to a squadron.
