MAURICEVILLE TALKIES
TOMORROW’S PROGRAMME. Paul Robeson, one of the greatest singing star of the age, will be heard in the Mauriceville Hall on Saturday in his latest and greatest picture, “Song of Freedom.” Since his first sensational appearance in the Edgar Wallace story, “Sanders of the River,” Paul Robeson has been a favourite singer on the radio, and patrons should welcome this opportunity of again seeing this marvellous star in another picture. In this story, he is King of a savage island race, but finds himself the idol of Paris, Berlin, Vienna, London and of the whole mu-sic-loving world. He casts fame and fortune aside and answering the call of racial feeling, returns to his unruly subjects. Terrors surround him and torture and death lurk near, but the finally triumphs. Music-lovers should not miss hearing him in four glorious numbers: “Sleepy River,” “Song of Freedom,” “Stepping Stones” and “Lonely Road.”
