LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
ADDRESS BY REV F. J. PARKER. The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. The president (Mrs L. B. Maunsell) presided over a very large attendance. A number of new members were enrolled. Members stood in silence as a mark of sympathy with Mr and Mrs J. Renner in the death of their son. Two very charming solos were sung by Mrs A. A. Dingle, and the League Choir was heard to advantage in “Where ere’ You Walk” (Handel). The items were warmly applauded. The speaker of the day, the Rev F. J. Parker gave a friendly and informal talk on the Work done at IYA, Auckland, in connection with the children’s Sunday sessions broadcast Mr Parker, who as Uncle Fred was priveleged to carry out these broadcasts, told of the many interesting contacts made, and gave excerpts from letters he had received from various remote parts of the Southern Hemisphere. On concluding Mr Parker was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The tea hostesses were Mesdames W. L. Butler, A. Torrance, J. H. Gardiner, E. J. Rich and W. B. Gaskin.
