PROTEST AGAINST HIGH CHARGES. RETURN TO PRE-DEPRESSION RATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.! WANGANUI. This Day. Indignation is expressed by farmers in country districts that telephone rental rates have been almost doubled, rising from £lO a year to more than £lB. A protest is Io be lodged with the Farmers’ Union, which will probably protest to the Government. Mi- A. Bellow, Chief Postmaster, at Wanganui, said that country rates during the slump ware reduced by 50 par cent., with a minimum of £lO. The latest increase was a return to the normal charge.
