TASMAN AIR SERVICE
WELIJNCiTON AS TERMINAL DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. PROMISE OF INVESTIGATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The claims of Wellington as a terminal of the trans-Tasman air service to be established by Tasman-Em-pire Air Lines were placed before the Prime Minister (Mr Savage), and the Minister of Defence (Mr Jones) by a deputation from th City Council Harbour Board and Chamber of Commerce. Both ministers readily admitted that Wellington possesses advantages from a mail distributive point of view, and that if other factors were equal there could be no argument about the location of the main base. The safety factor being paramount, however, the Government necessarily had to be guided by expert opinion. Mr Savage said he would be happy if a feasible way might be the establishment of a base at Wellington as well as at Auckland whereby safety would be assured under all conditions of weather. He gave an assurance that this aspect of the position would be investigated.
