REPORTED REJECTION OF ALLIANCE PROPOSAL TO REMAIN NEUTRAL. DECLARATION BY AIR CHIEF CHALLENGED. By Telegraph—Pi-ess Association— Copyright. LONDON. June 21. The Paris correspondent of "The Times" says that the Spanish Ambassador, Senor Lequerica, gave the French Foreign Minister. M. Bonnet, an assurance that the recent statement, by General Kindelan, Chief of the Span ■ ish Air Force, that if Italy is involved in war “none of the Spanish services, least of all the air force, will be able to remain impassive," did not represent the views of General Franco's Gov ernment. Senor Lequerica emphasised that Spain was in no way committed to the Axis in a military sense. The Paris correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph says that Spain has officially informed France that, in the event of a European war, Spain proposes to remain neutral. It is understood that Spain recently rejected an invitation from Italy to join the military alliance between Italy and Germany.
