HELP FROM BANKS

ACKNOWLEDGED BY PRIME MINISTER. MR NASH’S NEGOTIATIONS IN LONDON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The helpful attitude of the trading banks in New Zealand toward the Government’s financial negotiations in London was mentioned yesterday by the Prime Minister, Mr Savage. He confirmed a statement by the chairman of the associated banks that there had been actual co-operation by all six banks to assist Mr Nash’s approach to the London market. ‘-■The banks have been very helpful throughout the piece.” said Mr Savage. “Everything they could do they have done.” Reference was also made by Mr Savage to statements about Mr Nash’s loan negotiations emanating from London. He referred to certain statements in “Reynold's News.” which, he said, were the subject of a cable from Mr Nash. Mr Savage said that Mr Nash had advised that the statements were entirely incorrect. "This,” said Mr Savage, “is what Mr Nash says: ‘No conditions have been laid down by the Government or the City.’ Mr Nash intends to interview the editor of thei paper.” ,
