WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT TE ORE ORE. | (“Times-Age” Special.) The president, Mrs Fouhy, presided over the monthly meeting of the Te Ore Ore Women’s Institute held in the Te Ore Ore School on Tuesday night. Visitors and members were welcomed. A.n apology for unavoidable absence was received from the vice-pre-sident (Mrs McDonald). Members stood to sing the “Ode to Friendship” after which the president read the ’’Prayer for Peace.”’ Two ideas, “The Wandering Shilling” and a “Magazine Club,” as a means of raising funds for the Institute, were approved by the meeting and will come into operation next month. It was decided that the Institute provide itself with a supper cloth of the club's colours, to contain the Institute badge, its emblem, and all the names of members. Next month’s competition would be a design for the cloth. Tw'b small blue and white pois suspended from a bow of blue and white ribbon will be the emblem of the Te Ore Ore Institute. Miss Admore gave a very interesting demonstration on the making of a wool rug. it was decided that a large mat be made for the Institute by all members. The hessian, needle, wool and frame, were all donated. Mrs Griffin then proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Miss Admore which was carried. The motto for the month “Little by Little” was read by the president. A roll call of a riddle caused much merriment. A game, “Lost Property,” was won by Miss J. Griffin, Miss M. Dalzell, Miss N. West and Miss E. M. Bliss being second, and Mrs West, Miss Robinson and Miss I. West third. The monthly competitions resulted as follows:—-Best smocking: Mrs Nini, 1; Mrs McDonald, 2; Miss E. M. Bliss, 3. Best flower: Miss E. M. Bliss, 1; Mrs Karaitiana, 2; and Miss Jaques, 3. A happy meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. The hostesses (Mrs T. Haeata, Mrs Albert and Mrs McLauchlan) served a most enjoyable supper.
