SUCCESSFUL YEAR

INTER-HOUSE ASSOCIATION. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING HELD Although not as fully attended as was expected, there was no doubting the enthusiasm of the delegates present at a special general meeting of the Wairarapa Inter-House Association held last night. The chairman of the executive, Mr G. Daubney, presided ovei - ari attendance some 20 delegates from Masterton business houses. The report presented by the committee on the work carried out to date discussed the formation of the Association and the success of the Field Day which was held on March 11. In spite of unsatisfactory weather, which had a detrimental effect on the public attendance, the day was an outstanding success. In addition to numerous track ■ events, 11 teams paraded in the girls’ contests and the high standard of the girls’ drill received commendation from the chief judge, Staff SergeantMajor G. P. O’Leary, N.Z.P.S., of Trentham Military Camp. The report reviewed the success of teams and individuals and expressed the thanks of the Association and the many donors of challenge cups and trophies. After meeting heavy expenses, many of which were non-recurring items, and payment of a subsidy of £44 Ils to the girls’ teams, the accounts of the association showed a credit balance of £55 8s 6d. The special thanks of the association were due, said the report, to SergeantMajor C. E. Rogers who was a tower of strength in helping the organisation of the different teams and in supervising and coaching them. The judges of the drill competitions and all who helped as officials on the Field Day were also thanked as were Mr C. A. Greenwood, honorary auditor, and the Park Croquet Club for the use of their pavilion as the girls’ dressing rooms. A draft set of rules was fully discussed and with amendments was approved as the constitution of the as-’_ sociation. It was also decided to take steps to incorporate the association under the Incorporated Societies’ Act.
