POWER SUPPLY

MEETING OF WAIRARAPA, BOARD. REVENUE EXCEEDS ESTIMATE. (“Times-Age” Special.) “The revenue returns for April and May are satisfactory and exceed the estimate by a small amount. However, the early closing down of the dairy season and the mild weather so far experienced, have had the effect of reducing the natural increase below what it would otherwise have-been,” stated Mr Geo. Brown, secretary-manager of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board at today’s monthly meeting. “It is interesting to note,” said Mr Brown, “that owing to the shorter period covered in May, 1939, due to the variation of the meter readings and to the new consumers connected up, the average price per unit for ordinary domestic supply increased from 2.77 d in May, 1938, to 2.93 d in May, 1939, and although for the reasons stated, the number of units recorded decreased 3.6 per cent, the net revenue for ordinary domestic supply increased 1.6 per cent.” "Good progress has been made with the construction of the 11,000 volt line through Solway to supply the State housing block. All poles have been erected and the first portion changed over to the new circuit,” reported the chief ehgineer, Mi- H. B. Keenan. “The preliminary survey has been made for the additional loop lines to Masterton and a report will be submitted to the board at the July meeting.”
