CHURCH OF ENGLAND

INTERESTING REMINISCENCES. AT MEN’S SOCIETY MEETING. Arrangements were made at the monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Church of England Men s Society for local members to be represented at the Wellington Conference to be held on June 24 and 25. The speaker for the evening was Mr N. J. Bennington, whose informative and interesting address on early days of Church and community life in Masterton was so appreciated that it was the unanimous wish of members that he should continue his history al a future meeting. Interesting reminiscences wore given by Mr A. Rowse, son of the first Methodist minister in Masterton, and by Mr T. Cripps, who as a baby was baptised by the Rev. Wm. Ronaldson. the first clergyman of the Wairarapa. On the motion of Mr G. Hyde a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker for his splendid address.
