Frequently it was stated that work would have been completed but for the licensees’ inability to obtain suitable linoleum to cover floors. In one instance a letter from an importer was read to show that linoleum for three hotels could not be supplied. Tin Ingots Dropped into Harbour. A number of ingots of tin which, while being lifted from the hold of the Union Company’s trans-Tasman liner Awatea at Auckland on a sling, where dropped into the harbour through a mishap have been recovered. but there are several still lying at the bottom of the harbour alongside Prince's Wharf. Although the exact number dropped is not known, il is understood that the total value is about £45. Seven of the ingots were recovered with the aid of an Auckland Harbour Board crane with a grab attached. Efforts to recover the remainder were without success. Further efforts will be made.
